A grounding sheet is only as good as its setup — get the connection right and it works quietly every night; get it wrong and you won't feel a thing. The good news is it takes about five minutes. Here's exactly how to set up and use your grounding sheet properly.
What's in the box
A grounding sheet, a grounding cord, and (with ours) a way to confirm the connection. The sheet contains conductive silver threads; the cord carries the connection from the sheet to the ground (earth) port of your outlet. It connects only to ground — never to live current — so there's no electrical risk when the product is made correctly.
Step 1 — Fit the sheet
Put the grounding sheet on your mattress like a normal fitted or flat sheet, conductive side up (the side that touches you). If you use a flat grounding sheet, place it where your body rests — torso, back and limbs.
Step 2 — Connect the cord
Snap the cord onto the sheet's connector, then plug the other end into the ground port of a grounded outlet (the small round hole). If your home has older or ungrounded outlets, a grounding rod placed outside into the earth is the alternative — check your outlet is genuinely grounded before relying on it.
Step 3 — Confirm it's working
If your sheet came with a connection tester, use it to confirm continuity. This one check saves people weeks of wondering why they feel nothing — a loose or wrong connection is the most common setup mistake.
Step 4 — Make good contact
Grounding works through skin contact, so the more bare skin touching the sheet, the better. Light pyjamas are fine; thick layers between you and the sheet reduce the effect. We cover the nuances — pyjamas, layers, and electric blankets — in grounding sheet do's and don'ts.
Using it well
Use it every night — consistency is where the benefit comes from, and most people notice gradual improvement over a couple of weeks rather than overnight. To keep the silver conducting for years, wash gently and skip fabric softener; full steps are in our wash and care guide.
